ECCA 2017 is hosted by Glasgow, which means ‘dear green place’ in Gaelic. You are guaranteed a warm welcome in Scotland’s biggest, most diverse and friendliest city. You’ll also be in the heart of a city-region that is putting climate adaptation and climate justice at the core of decision-making, shaping investment and transforming communities.

People are at the heart of Glasgow’s approach to climate readiness. The people of Glasgow are working together, supported by a range of innovative programmes, to create climate ready places that embed adaptation in our communities. Glasgow was an early signatory to EU Mayors Adapt, joining cities across Europe to raise our collective voice on the importance of adaptation, and shares best practice with cities across the world through its membership of the Rockefeller Foundation 100 Resilient Cities network. The city’s resilience strategy was launched in September 2016.

ECCA 2017 offers a unique opportunity to visit many of Glasgow’s innovative adaptation projects and see for yourself how climate adaptation can work in practice. Glasgow is also a cultural centre, and ECCA 2017 will entertain and inspire you with art, music and local food and drink, including, of course, Scotch whisky!

We are fortunate to be supported by an excellent and experienced team of local organisations. Together, we look forward to delivering a conference that will inspire real action on climate adaptation.
